Look out this weekend for our Mother’s Day Raffle tickets. Details below.

And if you’re not following the Brumbies on Facebook, you’re absolutely missing out. Make sure you check out the Weekly Emoji Quiz and see if you can find a photo of yourself in the galleries. (Thanks to Emily for doing a top job as always!)

Let’s go Brumbies.

W11As at the Liberty A-League Grand Final

W11As at the Liberty A-League Grand Final

Did you spot our Brumbies at the Liberty A-League Grand Final? Our W11As represented Bangor FC in the Liberty Future Stars March, welcoming Sydney FC and Western United to CommBank Stadium.

To say the girls were excited is an absolute understatement! The girls had a great time and even got to high five the Western United squad!

The W11As also helped to make history, with the Grand Final setting a new record attendance for the biggest crowd for a domestic women’s match in Australia. What an amazing experience for these young footballers and who knows, we might see some of them playing for the A-League in years to come!

About the Washed Out Sunday Round #5

After playing through the rain last Saturday, it certainly was a shame that the Sunday games were washed out. We are all equally frustrated. But as we all learned last year, these things aren’t always in our control… and it certainly did pour on Saturday night!

The SSFA shared a useful post titled Washed Out Football and its Impact. It’s definitely worth a read if you’d like to understand how they manage wet weather. With around 11,000 players across 64 fields, it’s no easy task to manage on a dry weekend, let alone when the rain gods are tipping it down.

For those who like the detail, here’s an extract of Rule 18 which covers washed out games…

Tip of the week…

⚽️ Make sure you’re voting for your end of year awards!

Attention Coaches and Managers of U12 and above…

At the End of Year Presentations, every U12+ team will give out two awards:

  1. Coaches Player of the Year
  2. Players’ Player of the Year

You might like to get your teams voting each weekend for who their Players’ Player will be in 2023. This can make things easer at the end of the season.

It’s completely up to you how you’d like to manage it. A great system that you might like to use is the 3-2-1 voting system. Simply ask each player to send you their top three players after each game.

  • 3 points for the best player per round
  • 2 points for second best player per round
  • 1 point for the third best player per round

So thank you! Thank you!

Without your help there would be no football (or bacon!).

You can view the Ground Control roster on the website linked below.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Ground Duty, please contact our Draw Secretary Michael Hulskamp (draw_secretary@bangorbrumbies.org.au) as soon as possible.

Brumby of the week!

Our Brumby of the Week for Round 5 is Jet from the U6Cs!

Jet had an amazing game, scoring 3 goals and defending attacks by local rivals Menai Hawks. To top it off, Jet was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ by his coach for great teamwork and playing his heart out all game.

This weeks honourable mention goes to the U14Ds for excellent sportsmanship.

Who will be our next Brumby of the Week? To nominate a player, send a message to our Facebook page by 9pm Sunday with a photo as well as their name, team and why you think they should be crowned Brumby of the Week.
