IMPORTANT: Players team grade/age allocation is FINAL at the conclusion of the grading process. The Technical Team has the right to amend teams after grading.
IMPORTANT: Registration fees are non-refundable once the grading process is complete and players have been allocated to teams. This policy ensures players commit to their allocated teams and is designed to reduce player movements post grading. Any dispute will be reviewed by the Bangor Football Club Executive Committee.
Essential Information for Junior Grading
Our Grading Technical Team will endeavour to get the best result for each player that attends the Bangor FC grading.
This is a difficult task, made more difficult when players do not turn up to grading days. If your son/daughter is unable to make these dates it is important that you let the Technical Team (technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au) know beforehand.
Players registered in the Under 8’s through Under 16’s will be graded on their performance on the day. Teams will be announced via email after the completion of grading (both weekends).
Our Grading Technical Team members will not be involved in the grading of their own son/daughter’s age group and will have no input in the grading of the players in that age group.
Grading Day Requirements
- Players must be registered with Bangor FC in order to participate on grading days
- Shin pads must be worn at all times during grading
- Girls may play in mixed teams up to and including U12
- Bring a drink bottle, sunscreen and a hat on grading day
- Please turn up on time for the age group you are grading for
- For U8’s and above, teams will be selected based upon the matching of players’ abilities, although extenuating circumstances will be considered.
- Players not attending may be excluded from teams unless the Technical Team has been advised beforehand
- If there is any information that is relevant to the grading process please let the Technical Team know this prior to the grading date.
Whilst the club has a policy of attempting to meet requests to play with friends for U6 and U7, no absolute guarantees can be given as individual players’ abilities must be taken into consideration.
The Club’s experience is that children will enjoy their football more if they play in a grade that is aligned with their ability. No one wins if a child is under or over-graded.
Playing up an age group?
Please let the Technical Team know on grading days if your son or daughter intends to grade in an older age group. Per SSFA rules, players turning 16 or younger may play in an age group up to two years older.
If the Technical Team has not been advised then the player will remain in his or her correct age for grading.
It should be noted that there are physical risks of playing up an age group and that the final decision will be at the discretion of the Technical Team.
U18, U21 and Senior teams (Women’s and Men’s)
There will be no grading or meeting of teams in these age groups.
Coaches or Managers of the U18 and above, as well as senior teams, will need to email the Technical team at technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au by the 6pm Saturday 21 February 2026 with the following information:
- List of players in the MS Excel team list. Please include first and last names with FFA numbers.
- The coach’s and manager’s names and contact details.
- Preferred training night and time.
- Please include any grading requests as well for the new season.
Trial Games
Trial games will be arranged just before the season commences. It is possible that not all teams will get a trial game, however, all efforts will be made to get at least one trial match for all teams.
Under NO circumstances are trial games to be organised without going through Bangor FC Committee.
Coaches and Managers will be informed as to any games that have been arranged for their teams.
Frequently Asked Questions
Grading is an evaluation of each players current skill level including ball control, game awareness, and teamwork skills. At Bangor FC, we grade all players from U8s to U16s.
Bangor FC endeavours to form U6 and U7 teams based on friend groups/school groupings. We do, however, still need to ‘Grade’ the team as a whole.
Grading allows us to ensure teams play with and against players of similar skills and abilities. This maximises participation and enjoyment while providing all players with appropriate challenges and opportunities for growth. No one wins if a player is over or under-graded.
All registered players are expected to attend Grading. Exceptional circumstances will be considered. Please email technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au as soon as possible.
We will be paying close attention to the weather and will make changes to the schedule if deemed necessary. Please keep an eye on our website and social media pages for any updates, and send your child prepared for the weather conditions.
Grading is a big undertaking. The sessions are run by our volunteer committee and they have chosen to give up their weekend rather than multiple weeknights.
