Female Football Week, State Cup and more!

With several fields underwater and the rest thoroughly drenched, the Sutherland Shire Council has made the decision to close all turf grounds until at least Monday, forcing the postponement of this weekend’s games.

While fixtures are yet to be released, it appears likely that this weekend’s games will be redrawn to next weekend with our Saturday teams playing Round 5 while our Sunday teams get a fourth shot at Round 1.

Despite the rain, we do have two teams who will be taking to the field this weekend. The U16As will be playing their rescheduled State Cup game against Auburn this Sunday at Kareela 3 while over on Kareela 2, our PLW team will be hoping to secure their first win of the season against Gymea-2. Both games kick off at 3pm.

Celebrating Female Football Week!

Female Football Week is an annual initiative aimed at elevating women and girls and celebrating their contribution to football across all aspects of the game.

In 2024, Bangor FC registered more female MiniRoos players than male players for the first time ever. To mark the occasion, we spoke with members of the W6B-1s and W6C-2s about what they love about football.

The future is bright for these youngsters with an ever increasing array of programs and opportunities available to female players. For a glimpse into what the future could hold, we spoke with A-League Goalkeeper and former Brumby Courtney Newbon about what it’s like to go from Billa Road to the big time.
