Round #16: West Brom Success and Play in purple

Don’t forget the sunscreen and sunnies this weekend — it’s gonna be HOT at Billa Road!

Good luck to all Brumbies, where ever you’re playing this weekend.

Sorry to those who missed out on the newsletter last weekend. It was a cracking issue, but the internet gremlins had other ideas! 😩

Go Brumbies!

Play in purple this weekend

It’s time to dig out your purple socks! Bangor Football Club will #PlayinPurple this weekend the 15th and 16th of July!

#PlayinPurple is a national campaign by PanKind, The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation that raises awareness and critical funds for pancreatic cancer research and patient support. Players who will be wearing their socks from a previous year are encouraged to make a $5 donation here https://pankind.org.au/donate/

On the day, please don’t forget to take photos of your teams in their purple socks and send them our way, either via our Facebook page or to communications_assistant@bangorbrumbies.org.au.

We hope you will join us in supporting this great cause and help PanKind turn sports fields across Australia purple for pancreatic cancer! Go Brumbies!

West Brom clinics a huge success!

Wow! What an incredible two days of football and sunshine we had at Billa Oval for the West Bromwich Albion July School Holiday Football Clinics.

46 of Bangor FC’s finest players, training with four top level coaches from the Albion Foundation.

Players and parents alike were stunned by the quality of coaching and it’s fair to say the coaches were just as impressed with the quality of players and level of effort on display too.

Thank you to Eddie from the Bangor FC Training Academy for organising such a fantastic and enjoyable training event. And thank you to the West Brom coaches who came all the way from England for us.

We’ll give a bigger wrap up of the event next week. For now, here’s a few pics from the two days.

MiniRoo Sideline Behaviour

The SSFA would like to share their concern about the sharp increase in abuse and incidents during the 2023 season.

We believe it is time to take a stand and remind EVERYONE that your MiniRoo football matches on the weekend are not a platform or arena for poor behaviour, or for abusing and confronting each other on the sideline.

It is particularly important that this message sinks in with respect to ALL MiniRoo referees, both during and after matches.

Just, remember that the majority of MiniRoo referees are aged between 12 to 16 years old. One day to might be your child refereeing!

Make no mistake: poor behaviour amongst players, spectators (parents), towards MiniRoo referees and each other should NOT be tolerated.

BUT it’s not just the MiniRoo referees that deserve respect – it is all of you!

Everyone deserves to be able to attend matches without being abused, so the time has come for EVERYONE to understand that enough is enough.

Let’s finish the 2023 season on a positive note!

Ground Control Roster for Round #15

Thanks again to all the extra hands that help to keep the Brumbies running every week. As a community football club, run entirely by volunteers, it’s up to all of us to pitch in and do our bit to keep things going.

So thank you! Thank you!

Without your help there would be no football (or bacon!).

Brumby of the week!

Our Brumby of the Week for Round 15 is Haddie from the W9Ds!

Haddie played an amazing three games for the Brumbies on Saturday! Starting out by supporting our W10Cs who were short on players due to the school holidays, Haddie then played her own game with W9Ds before also helping out the W9Bs! Haddie played her heart out in all three matches and even scored two goals! Great work Haddie!

This week’s honourable mention goes to the U13Ds who put on a gutsy performance with only nine players, losing 4-2 to a team with a full bench of subs. The boys never dropped their heads and everyone gave 110%. Amazing effort boys!

Thank you to everyone who sent in a nomination! Who will be our next Brumby of the Week? To nominate a player, send a message to our Facebook page by 9pm Sunday with a photo as well as their name, team and why you think they should be crowned Brumby of the Week.
