Brumbies News: Congratulations to our 2023 Premiers

What a fantastic way to end the season!

Four Brumbies teams in the Grand Finals and about a million visitors to our home turf at the Ridge for two full days hosting matches. Congratulations to all of our teams! Great results all around!

Bangor AL11s: 2023 Premiers!

Bangor AL11s are the 2023 Premiers

The AL11s played an absolute blinder this afternoon, taking down Gwawley Bay 2-1 in a thrilling game at The Ridge!

Bangor came into the game fired up after losing to Gwawley Bay in the semi-final and knew they were in for a tough game. While Gwawley Bay started strong, Bangor were well and truly up for the challenge and tested out the keeper with some great shots.

Although Gwawley Bay were the first to score, Bangor stayed calm and kept playing their game. The reward came in the 66th minute with a brilliant goal by Jaymon, who calmly slotted the ball into the goal thanks to a beautiful through ball by Blake.

Gwawley Bay weren’t going down without a fight and the Bangor keeper Gerrard made a series of excellent saves to keep the scores level at 1-1. Not able to break the deadlock, the opposition became increasingly frustrated and reckless, giving up a number of free kicks and losing their captain to the sin-bin with less than 10 minutes to go.

In the dying minutes of the match, a beautiful strike from the edge of the 18-yard box by Shaun sealed the victory for Bangor. The win puts the cherry on top of a brilliant season by the AL11s and is very well deserved.

There was a massive turnout of support at the game and we would like to thank everyone who came along to cheer on our boys. You won’t meet a nicer bunch of blokes and we are so proud of the whole team!

Congratulations AL11s!

Bangor W15Cs: 2023 Premiers!

The W15Cs have capped off a fantastic season with a stunning 3-1 win over Bundeena Maianbar.

Bundeena were the first to score, slipping past Bangor’s defence and sneaking the ball into the bottom corner of the net. However not long after, a free kick on the edge of the 18-yard box gave Bangor a golden opportunity, brilliantly capitalised on by Phoebe who lifted the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net, bringing the scores to 1-1 just before half time.

Bangor came out of the half time break fired up and had plenty of chances early in the second half. The breakthrough came with less than 6 minutes to go in regular time with Bangor scoring two excellent goals in quick succession, both by Mia, sealing the victory for the Brumbies!

Thank you to everyone who came down to support our girls! We are super proud of the whole team and how they have conducted themselves throughout the whole season.

Congratulations W15Cs!

Bangor WSBs: 2023 Runners Up!

The WSBs have gone down 2-1 to Gymea United in a scorching game at Kareela.

Bangor looked dangerous early on but a reckless tackle in the 18-yard box gifted Gymea a penalty which put them into the lead mid-way through the first half. Down but not out, the WSBs regrouped and were able to keep the score to 1-0 despite some dangerous Gymea chances.

Bangor equalised early in the second half thanks to a beautiful long range free kick by striker Milly. With the scores level it was anyones game until Gymea took the lead once again deep into the second half.

While Bangor tried their best, they weren’t able to claw one back and finished the game 2-1 down. The girls have had a great season, finishing as Minor Premiers, and it’s a shame they couldn’t go all the way today.

Thank you to all our adorable mascots and to everyone who came out to support our Brumbies!

Bangor W14B-1s: 2023 Runners Up!

The W14B-1s can hold their heads up high after drawing 0-0 with the Miranda

Magpies in a nailbiting grand final. As Miranda finished higher than Bangor at the end of the regular season, they were declared the 2023 Premiers at the conclusion of extra time.

The girls played exceptionally and were all over Miranda the whole game. They were hungry for the win and tackled hard, not willing to allow Miranda any time on the ball.

With the score 0-0 at the end of regular time, the girls dug deep and continued to pile on the pressure throughout extra time but were ultimately unable to get that crucial goal. While Runners Up isn’t the result the girls were after, they can be very proud of how well they played and the enormous effort they put into todays game.

We would like to give a big shoutout to all the Bangor supporters who came along to cheer on our girls and to Bangor Football Club President Shane Hockings, the W14B-1s coach, who spent the entire game in a tutu and Dr Seuss hat after promising the girls that they could pick his outfit if they made the Grand Final.

Well played W14B-1s and congratulations on an excellent season!
