Wet Weather, Match Sheets and more!

The 2024 season finally kicks off this weekend.

We are expecting some wet weather over the weekend so please keep an eye on the Bangor FC and SSFA Facebook pages for any ground closures and fixture changes. Coaches and Managers please note, unless you are advised by the BFC Committee of a washout, you should assume that games are going ahead.

Please check the SSFA website for game times and locations. Best of luck to all our teams, we hope you have a fantastic season.

Handy Reminders

ID Cards for Competition Teams (U12 and up)

All players registered in competition teams are required to present their SSFA ID card to the opposition at the start of each match. Players without ID Cards cannot take the field and fines apply for teams who do not present their ID Cards.

ID Cards may be collected from the Ridge Clubhouse from 8:00am – 12:00pm on Saturday. The ID Cards of players who have yet to pay their registration fee will be withheld until full payment is made.

Miniroos ‘Player of the Match’ Certificates

Miniroos teams will be supplied with Player of the Match Certificates to hand out to one stand-out player each week. The certificates can be collected from the Billa Road Clubhouse from 7:30am – 12:00pm on Saturday.

Coaches Shirts

All Bangor FC coaches will receive a coaches shirt to wear at games so they can be easily identified by their team and match officials. If you are new to coaching this year, please check your pigeon hole in the Billa Road (MiniRoos Teams) or Ridge (Competition Teams) Ground Control room.

If you have not received a shirt or there is an issue with sizing, please reach out to our Equipment Officer Dean (equipment@bangorbrumbies.org.au).

No coaching or spectating from behind the goal line

Irrespective of age group, coaching or spectating from behind the goal line is not permitted. Please stick to the side lines and alert Ground Control or a committee member if you see someone breaking the rules.

Brumby of the Week is back!

Every week during the season, we will be recognising our best and fairest with the Brumby of the Week award!

To nominate a player or team, send a message to our Facebook page by 9am Monday with a photo, name, team and why you think they should be crowned Brumby of the Week.

Whether it’s a feel good story, a special milestone, outstanding dedication or great team spirit, we want to hear about it!

✍️ Match Sheet Tips and Tricks for Coaches and Managers

Please make sure you fill in your match sheet every week! The club receives a fine for each element on the match sheet not filled in correctly!

The name of the coach, manager and nominated ground control person must be filled in prior to the start of each match. Competition teams are also required to fill in player shirt numbers however this can be pre-filled using the MyComp App. After your match finishes, the coach or manager must then check the score has been entered correctly by the referee and sign off at the bottom of the sheet. If you’re not sure about some details, please ask a Committee Member.

📋 Miniroos Coaching Certificate

The MiniRoos certificate is a 3-hour course and the perfect way to get up to speed with best practice for coaching MiniRoos footballers. Coaches will learn practical coaching skills, get a refresher on MiniRoo-specific rules and be shown how to engage kids with fun games and activities that will help them develop fundamental movement skills and fall in love with the game of football.

The SSFA are offering to run a certified Miniroos Coaching course for the Bangor FC coaches. Please register your interest with our Technical Director Matt (technical.director@bangorbrumbies.org.au) so that we can gauge numbers.

Finally, we would like to remind our members that Bangor FC is a volunteer run club. Our committee members volunteer their time to keep our club up and running, balancing their roles with full-time work and other commitments. This is not always easy and we would love some new members to join our committee to help lighten the load.

If you would like a bigger say in how your club is run or can spare a few hours here and there to help out, please contact our Secretary Kirsten (secretary@bangorbrumbies.org.au) or speak with one of our committee members over the weekend!

Run with the Brumbies!
